Larsen & Toubro has won orders worth Rs 1,391 crore across various business segments.

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a wholly owned subsidiary of engineering and construction major L&T, has secured new orders in excess of Rs 750 crore in its construction services business vertical.

Water and effluent treatment business has bagged orders worth Rs 432 crore while smart world ex-communication segment has secured an order worth Rs 209 crore. Shares of Adani Transmission rose more than 3 percent as company received LoI intra state transmission project in Uttar Pradesh.

The company has received the LoI from REC Transmission Projects Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rural Electrification Corporation, to build, own, operate and maintain the transmission project in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The project Ghatampur Transmission has approximately 900 ckt kms of line at voltage levels of 765 KV and 400 KV.

This project is primarily being constructed to establish transmission system for evacuation of power from 3X660MW Ghatampur thermal power project.

The Nifty50 is likely to open flat on Wednesday following muted trend seen in other Asian markets. The Nifty50 closed 55 points higher at 10,842 on Tuesday.

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India, a rise of 21.5 points or 0.2 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 10,769-level on the Singaporean Exchange.

Wall Street made modest gains on Tuesday while the US dollar rose slightly against a basket of major currencies, with only muted impact from the long-awaited US-North Korea summit aimed at denuclearizing the Korean peninsula, said a Reuters report.

Asian shares edged slightly lower on Wednesday as investors looked to the Federal Reserve policy decision and any clues it might give on future rate hikes, shifting focus away from the historic US-North Korea summit in Singapore, it said.

Market Update: 89 Stocks Hit New 52-Week High On NSE; Dr Reddy's Labs Top Gainer

The Nifty and the Sensex were still trading in the red with the Nifty shedding 16.85 points at 10346 while the Sensex was down 29 points at 33237.48. The CNX PSU bank index was the top loser which fell 1.23 percent led by Union Bank of India, Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank and Punjab National Bank.

The top gainers in the Nifty50 were Axis Bank which zoomed over 6 percent, followed by Dr Reddy's Labs which was up 2.36 percent. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and HCL Technologies added over 1 percent each. Ambuja Cements was the othet toop Nifty gainer which was up close to 1 percent. Apart from Axis, Tata Steel was one of the most active stock which fell 1.79 percent. Bharat Electronics, PNB and Dr Reddy's Labs were also some of the most active stocks. The top losers from the Nifty index were Hindalco Industries, Vedanta, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors.

From the BSE, the stocks that gained the most were Religare Enterprises which jumped 8.9 percent while Reliance Communications zoomed close to 8 percent. Wabco India, Axis Bank and BF Utilities were the other gainers. The stocks which fell the most were Adani Transmission, GSPL, RattanIndia Power, SAIL and Sun Pharma Advanced.

The stocks which hit fresh 52-week high on the NSE included WABCO India, Dalmia Bharat, HEG, Escorts, NIIT Technologies and Birla Corp. From the BSE, the stocks that hit new 52-week high were Dalmia Bharat, Keltech Energies, Eldeco Housing, HEG, Shriram Transport Finance and Andhra Sugars.

From the Nifty index, 89 stocks hit fresh 52-week high while from the BSE, 137 stocks hit new 52-week high on Tuesday morning trade.

The advance decline ratio was in favour of the advances with 881 advancing while 761 declined. On the BSE, 1308 advanced while 1198 declined.

Technical Analyst Ashwani Gujral of ashwanigujral.com has a buy on Escorts with a stop loss of Rs 765, target 790 and a buy on NIIT Technologies with a stop of Rs 675 and target of Rs 700 while Mitessh Thakkar of miteshthacker.com has a buy on Eicher Motors with a stop loss of Rs 31,850 for target of Rs 33,500.

Closing Commentary Bulls In Total Command

In today’s trade, markets were on a hot streak as Nifty index hits a lifetime high of 10191.90. All the major indices ended in green with broader markets continuing to outperform.

Nifty futures witnessed fresh long formation during the day with an increase in open interest to the tune of ~11.7 lakh shares i.e a surge of ~4.4%.

Bank Nifty too witnessed a steep surge mainly on account of long buildup with a rise in open interest.

On the options, front huge amount of short covering was witnessed in Nifty ATM strikes as call writers had to run for cover.

Nifty 10100CE and 10000CE witnessed a decline of ~12 lakh and ~6.3 lakh shares respectively, mainly unwinding of short positions.

Highest O.I. in the current series has shifted to 10200CE and 10100PE.

The Nifty50 index hit fresh high of 10,179.25, surpassing its previous peak of 10178.95 touched on September 19, 2017.

At 2:05 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,461, up by 279 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,173 up by 76 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up by 0.17% at 15,986 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up by 0.46% at 16,981.

Bharti Airtel, Infratel, Tata Steel, Ultra Cement Co. And ICICI bank are among the gainers, whereas GAIL, Zee Entertainment, Sun Pharma, UPL, and ITC are losing steam on NSE.

Cyient stock gains 2% after 24.3 lakh shares or 2.2% of equity change hands at Rs 525 each in a single block deal on the BSE.

Logistic stocks gain. Transport Corp (+7%), Patel Int, GATI (+4%), Snowman Logi (+3%), VRL Logistics (+1.5%).

Andhra Bank crosses its 200 day EMA placed at 56.5 and has formed a bullish Hammer candlestick pattern on daily charts.

Some buying activity is seen in Telecom, Basic Materials, consumers goods, Energy, Finance, Power and Tech, while FMCG, Healthcare, and Realty show weakness on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is up by 1.38% at 11.19.

Out of 1,972 stocks traded on the NSE, 897 advanced, 725 declined, and 350 remained unchanged today.

A total of 72 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 16 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,553 down 129 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,488 down 22 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 1% at 10,785, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 2% at 11,476.

DCB Bank, IndusInd Bank, Emami, Tata Motors,Infosys, RIL, Sun Pharma, RIL are among the gainers, whereas TCS, SREI Infra, Pipavav, Fortis,Adani Ports, Lupin are losing sheen on BSE.

The India VIX (Volatility) index is down 2.95% to 18.1600. Out of 1,76 stocks traded on the NSE, 268 declined and 1,109 advanced today. A total of 29 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while eight stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Indian Rupee opened higher at 66.82/$, higher by 4 paise in early trade on Wednesday as against the previous close of 66.86/$. On Tuesday, Indian rupee extended the weakness against the greenback, impacted by foreign capital outflows and ensuing fall in domestic equities. On macroeconomic front, India's industrial output declined in November, while retail inflation scaled higher. In this respect, IIP reading contracted by 3.2%, a four year low. The number is in complete contrast with the growth of 9.9% during the prior month. Of late, Industrial production data has been very mercurial and it is difficult to gauge the actual trend. Consumer Inflation (CPI) for December inched higher towards 5.61%, when compared with the reading of 5.41% during November.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,879 up 197 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,565 up 54 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.30% at 10,753, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 1.88% at 11,261.

Some buying activity is seen auto, banking, consumer durables and IT sectors, while capital goods, pharma, metals and telecom sectors are showing weakness on BSE.
