The equity market was trading on a positive note on Friday morning. The Nifty is up 22 points at 10,739 levels and the Sensex is trading 51 points higher, or 0.15 percent.
CNX Energy was in the green, including oil & gas stocks. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) jumped three percent, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) added over two percent each in morning trade.
State run banks were trading weak dragged by Punjab National Bank (PNB) which shed three percent while Union Bank of India fell two percent. Allahabad Bank, Canara Bank and Syndicate Bank were the other losers.
The metal index was shining with stocks like Hindustan Copper jumping over six percent and Jindal Steel & Power gaining two percent. NMDC and SAIL were the other gainers.
