Nifty, Sensex Touches Record High Bank Nifty Closes Above 23400 For The First Time

Nifty closed at 9621 level lower by 3 points and Sensex closed at 31145 level lower by 13 points. Nifty and Sensex touched their all-time highs of 9649.6 level and 31255 level in the Wednesday’s trading session.M&M was the top Nifty gainer closed higher by 4.1% at Rs 1416.95 per share while Vedanta Limited was the top Nifty loser closed lower by 2.55% at Rs 238.65 per share. The tractor and utility maker, Mahindra and Mahindra posted a 26.3% growth in profit at Rs 873.72 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2017. The stock was the eye-catcher in the Wednesday’s trading session.

The three heavyweight stocks, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and ITC pushed Nifty and Sensex to their all-time highs of 9649 level and 31255 level respectively. ICICI Bank touched its fresh 52-week high of Rs 327.4 per share on NSE in Wednesday’s trade.The government’s Central Statistical Office (CSO) is going to release estimate for growth in the fourth quarter of FY17 on Wednesday. However, the polls by most of the private companies are signalling that India remained the fastest-growing major economy.

The Bank Nifty closed above 23400 level for the first time ever. It closed higher by 117 points at 23424 level.Kamdhenu Limited closed higher by 6% at Rs 115.85 per share on the back of strong quarterly results. The company on Tuesday reported a 31.4% rise in net profit to Rs 3.01 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2017. It had posted a net profit of Rs 2.29 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

Nifty Closes Near Intraday Record High, Aurobindo Pharma Top Nifty Gainer

NSE Nifty closed at 9624 up by 19 points, whereas BSE Sensex closed higher by 50 points at 31159.BSE Mid-cap index closed higher by 0.83% at 14489. BSE Small-cap index closed higher by 0.46% at 14924. India VIX closed lower by 0.19% at 11.7 level.

Aurobindo Pharma, Adani Ports, Bank of Baroda, NTPC, Tech Mahindra and ICICI Bank are the top Nifty gainers, whereas Power Grid, BPCL, Bharti Infratel, ITC, IndusInd Bank, HDFC and TCS are the top Nifty losers.

The heavyweight auto stocks sizzled on the bourses on Tuesday. Maruti Suzuki India and Motherson Sumi hit their respective 52-week high. Maruti Suzuki hit its 52-week high of Rs 7200 per share and was one of the major contributors to the BSE Metal index. On the other hand, Motherson Sumi Systems Limited hit its 52-week high of Rs 452.55 per share on the BSE.

The fertiliser stocks have been gaining ground on the bourses as India braces for the monsoon. The monsoon is expected to arrive over the Indian mainland on June 1. With the expectations of normal rainfall in the year 2017, investors are choosing to buy the fertiliser stocks. Zuari Agro Chemicals closed at Rs 407 per share higher by 1.8%; Coromandel Agro Products closed higher by 4.8% at Rs 2.58 per share; Mangalore Chemicals closed higher by 11.5% at Rs 77 per share.

The Nifty pharma index closed in positive territory snapping the fall in past ten trading sessions. The pharmaceutical stocks traded in green territory throughout the day. Aurobindo Pharma was the star performer of the day. It closed at Rs 582 per share up by 13.5%. Piramal Enterprises closed higher by 3.9% at Rs 2749.95 per share, Cadila Healthcare closed at Rs 472.50 per share, up by 3.6%.

Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ramco Cements, TTK Healthcare, TTK Prestige, SAIL, Eveready, Unichem Laboratories, HUDCO, Berger Paints, Asian Granito, Apollo Hospitals, FACT and Natco Pharma were some of the companies which announced its financial results on Tuesday.

Himachal Fibres closed higher by 18.5% at Rs 9.39 per share.

MBL Infrastructures closed higher by 9.8% at Rs 26.30 per share.

Adani Enterprises closed higher by 5.9% at Rs 117.90 per share.

Max Financial Services closed higher by 4.1% at Rs 559.25 per share.

Nifty closed higher by 9.8 points at 9,604 levels above the important psychological level 9600 level for the first time ever and Sensex closed higher by 81 points at 31,109 level. Power Grid was the top Nifty gainer closed higher by 3.4% at Rs 209.1 per share whereas Sun Pharma was the top Nifty loser closed lower by 11.45% at Rs 502.6 per share.The index heavyweights HDFC, ITC and Reliance contributed the most to the gains of Nifty and Sensex.

Reliance Communications was in focus in the Monday’s trading session. The stock slipped by over 23% to touch its intraday low of Rs 19.7 per share. It closed lower by 20.38% at Rs 20.5 per share on Monday.

The seven major companies on the bourses namely Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), HDFC Bank, ITC, Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Maruti Suzuki India, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and IndusInd Bank from the Nifty 50 index hit their respective record highs.

The market witnessed a historic day as benchmark indices clocked fresh record highs, with the Sensex clocking 31,000 for the first time ever, along with the Nifty at 9600. The Nifty Bank also hit a record high during the Friday’s trade.The Sensex ended 278.18 points higher at 31028.21, while the Nifty closed up 85.35 points at 9595.10. The market breadth was healthy as 1,810 shares advanced against a decline of 854 shares, while 182 shares were unchanged.

Private sector banks fired on all cylinders along with midcaps, metals as well as auto stocks, the indices of which on the Nifty gained the most. Meanwhile, pharma stocks continued to bleed and sulk on the back of poor outlook for the sector in the US as well as bad results at home.ITC and HPCL gained on the back of positive earnings momentum, while large caps such as Reliance Industries contributed heavily to the market’s gain.

Sensex Hits Record High, Nifty Reconquers 9500, Pharma Stocks Take A Beating

Benchmark indices NSE Nifty closed at 9509 up by 149 points, whereas BSE Sensex hit a record high and closed at 30750 higher by 448 points on Thursday.Nifty50 index ended higher for the sixth consecutive derivative contract series on Thursday. L&T, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, ACC, HDFC Bank and Infosys are the top Nifty Gainers, whereas Lupin, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Cipla and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries are the top Nifty Losers.

On the contrary, the pharmaceutical stocks took a beating in Thursday’s trading session, with the BSE Healthcare index being the top losing index at the end. Lupin, Sun Pharmaceuticals and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories were the top contributor to the index losses. Lupin slipped to 33 month low on Thursday. It closed at Rs 1135.65 per share, down by 7.4%. Sun Pharmaceutical closed down by 1.5% at Rs 593.95 per share. Sanghi Industries, PC Jewellers, Alchemist, Bosch, Indian Oil Corporation, AIA Engineering, Adlabs Entertainment and Ashok Leyland were some of the companies which announced its financial results on Thursday.

Opening Bell – Markets Open In Green, Nifty Over 25 Points

The BSE Sensex opened up by 74 points at 30374, while the Nifty 50 opened higher by 26 points at 9386 mark.Adani Ports is the top Nifty gainer and Lupin is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours.The rupee opened at 64.54 per US dollar lower by 19 paise on Thursday. The rupee bounced back on Wednesday to close at 64.73 to the dollar, reviving hope of further strength to 64.30 level in the next few days, dealers said. It was at 64.89 to the dollar on Tuesday's close.

On the daily chart, Nifty50 Index has breached its rising trend line support which was formed by joining lows of 7,893.80 and 9088.75. Now, going forward, Nifty50 has support placed around the level of 9,320, and if this level is breached, the index may drift towards the level of 9,270. On the upside, the region of 9,410-9,430 is likely to act as an immediate resistance.

The broader market indices underperformed the major indices in the market. BSE Mid cap index closed at 14037 levels, down by 1.43%, BSE Small cap index closed at 14556 levels, down by 1.44%. Tata Motors was the eye catcher in today’s trade. The stock surged to an intraday high of Rs 472.95 per share up by nearly 5% on BSE. The stock reacted positively to its Q4 earnings. The stock ended at Rs per share up by on BSE in today’s trade.

Metal stocks reeled under pressure as Moody's Investor’s Service downgraded debt rating of China saying the outlook for its financial strength will worsen. The credit rating agency believes that the financial strength of China will erode in coming years as the debt of the country is on the rising trend.

China is the world's biggest consumer of metals. The downgrading of the China’s credit rating has worried the metal investors globally and domestically.The major metal stocks namely SAIL, MOIL, Hindalco & Vedanta Ltd lost nearly 3% on Wednesday’s trade. SAIL was the top loser in the BSE Metal index, closed lower by around 4% at Rs 57.05 per share. Pharma stocks traded weak in today’s trading session. Divis Lab was the top loser in Nifty Pharma index closed lower by 3.2% at Rs 557.20 per share on NSE.
