Equity benchmark indices pared early morning gains in Wednesday’s session, with Nifty 50 trading around the 11,100 mark. Today’s gains were led by HDFC Bank, Indiabulls HF, M&M, Reliance Industries, and Yes Bank.
Sensex was trading at 36,688, up 36 points, while the Nifty 50 index was trading at 11,087, up 20 points.
The BSE Midcap and the BSE Smallcap indices rose 0.53% and 0.42%, respectively.
On the sectoral front, FMCG, IT, and PSU Bank indices were trading in the red zone, while the Pharma and Metal index gained 1% each.
Minda Ind gained 2.5% after the board approved setting up a new manufacturing plant of two-wheeler alloy wheels in Maharashtra.
Shares of Yes Bank rose 3% as its board sought an extension of term for its MD & CEO Rana Kapoor till the completion of this financial year.
Volatility index India VIX slipped 1.49% to 16.43.
Indiabulls HF (+7.2%), Yes Bank (+3%), Lupin (+2.3%), M&M (+2%), and Eicher Motors (+1.9%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.
HCL Tech, Wipro (-1.5%), ITC (-1.46%), ONGC (-1.3%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (-0.96%) were the top losers in today’s trade.
Out of 2,032 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,066 advanced, 533 declined, and 433 remained unchanged.
A total of nine stocks registered a fresh 52-week high, while 99 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
