Nifty Pharma index is trading lower by 24 points at 10473 levels. Cadila Healthcare is the top loser in the index trading lower by 1.2% at Rs 447.7 per share. Bank stocks are buzzing on the bourses on Wednesday. State Bank of India is the top gainer in the index trading higher by 1.5% at Rs 286.3 per share.

The Bank Nifty index is trading higher by 0.3% at 21303 level. There are 859 advances, 683 declines and 381 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting slightly positive bias floating in the market. At 11 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29477 up 68 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9121 up 20 points. A total of 66 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 22 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.2% at 13933, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.4% at 14207. Some buying activity is seen in Capital Goods, Metal, Pharma, Auto, while Oil & Gas, Energy are showing weakness on BSE.

Bharti Infratel, Tata Power, Asian Paints, State Bank of India and Ambuja Cements are among the gainers, whereas Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, Aurobindo Pharma, Wipro and Grasim are losing sheen on NSE in the first trading hour.

Major auto stocks, Tata Motors, M&M, Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp are showing weakness in Tuesday’s trading session. These stocks are collectively dragging the Sensex down.

FMCG heavyweight, ITC Limited witnessed addition of 8.1% contracts in its OI. The stock touched its fresh 52-week high of Rs 292.15 per share, up by Rs 15.35 per share or 5.54%. ITC Limited in early morning hours surged over 5% owing to the news that SUUTI sold its 2% stake to LIC.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,388.19 down 51.09 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8783.45 down 15.75 points. A total of 59 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 7 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.25% at 13464.21, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.30% at 13580.39.

Some buying activity is seen in Basic Materials, FMCG and Healtcare indices. While Oil & Gas, Finance, Industrials,IT and Telecom indices are showing weakness on BSE. BHEL, ITC, Sunn Pharma, Kotak Bank, and Hindalco are among the gainers, whereas Tata Motors, Zeel, Tata Motors DVR, Bajaj Auto and ICICI Bank are losing sheen on NSE. The INDIA VIX is up 1.19% at 13.56.

The BSE Sensex opened higher by 13.13 points at 27669.08, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 9.05 points at the 8570.35 mark. There are 789 advances, 566 declines and 434 unchanged stocks on NSE on budget day reflecting positive bias for the market. The rupee opened at 67.65 per dollar up by 22 paise.

The European markets climbed during the first few hours of trades on Tuesday, recovering some of the losses from the previous session. However, the market slipped into red zone following the weak opening on Wall Street. The DAX of Germany plunged 1.25% to close at 11535.31 levels and the CAC 40 of France fell 0.75% to close at 4748.90 levels. The FTSE of the U.K. declined by 0.27% to close at 7099.15. 

The U.S. Stock trimmed early losses but still ended mostly lower on Tuesday, as decline in industrial, technology and financials shares outweighed gains in health-care and utilities sectors. The Dow Jones Average fell 107.40 points to 19,864.09, the S&P 500 ended down 2.03 points at 2,278.87. The Nasdaq Composite closed 1.07 points higher at 5,614.

Asian market trading with nervousness Japan’s Nikkei 225 trading lower by 2.75 points and Hang Seng trading lower by about 1%.

The SGX Nifty index is trading higher by 28.50 points at 8604.50, indicating a flat to positive start for the Indian markets.

The Union Budget is a big event for the market and market is likely to trade with high volatility today. The zone of 8680-8740 is a major resistance zone for the Nifty and on the downside, the level of 8430 is a crucial support level for the Nifty as its 50% Fib Retracement level of major downswing from the high levels of 8968.70 to low of 7893.80.

There are 772 advances, 796 declines and 349 unchanged stocks on NSE. Oil & Gas stocks are losing grounds on bourses, Indian Oil Corporation is contributing 76% to the downfall of the sectoral index.

Sugar stocks are trading cautious. There is not any strong movement seen in sugar stocks. EID Parry India Limited is trading in red. The stock opened at Rs 293.55 per share with a mere gain of Rs 0.15 per share. Q3 results of the company are to be announced on February 7.

HDFC is contributing 85% to BSE Bankex index losses. BSE Bankex is trading at 22519.37 levels down by 46.87 level or 0.21%.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27884.26 up 1.80 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8639.15 down 5.10 points. A total of 43 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 11 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.37% at 13012.87, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.03% at 13115.76. Some buying activity is seen in Utilities, Realty, Healthcare, Telecom and Capital Goods while Oil & Gas, Information Technology, Finance and Auto are showing weakness on BSE.

Idea, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, Grasim and Dr Reddy are among the gainers, whereas Auro Bindo, Tata Motor, Infratel, HCLTech and Wipro are losing sheen on NSE. The INDIA VIX is up 2.88% at 16.46.

Nifty and Sensex are trading in green wherein Sensex gained 200 points while Nifty index gained 70 points. Metal, Auto and Bank stocks are providing the right support to benchmark indices.

Nifty Put Call ratio at 1.2 indicates bullishness; Call writing happening at 8300 levels. Even as Indian markets are trading in the green, taking cues from global markets, where Dow Jones is breaking new highs, the derivatives market data is suggestive of headwinds for the Nifty at 8300 levels.

Gold is maintaining a steady growth, and has risen to its highest on Thursday, as the US dollar has stepped further away from a 14-year peak, with investors locking in gains from its two-month-old rally, as also on a technical rebound.  Spot gold was up 0.8 per cent at $1,171.28 an ounce at 0032 GMT. Earlier it was at its highest since Dec 8, 2016 at $1,172.96.

US gold futures have climbed 0.6 per cent to $ 1,172.50 per ounce. At 12:02 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26863 up 230 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8263 up 73 points. A total of 33 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 5 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Out of 1894 stocks traded on the NSE, 302 declined, 1259 advanced and 333 remained unchanged today. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.06% at 12323, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.92% at 12487. Some buying activity is observed in Auto, bank, Metal, Oil & Gas, Pharma sectors, while Telecom, Realty are showing weakness on BSE. Tata Motors, Adani Ports, Yes Bank, Tata Steel, ONGC, Tata Motors DVR, Aurobindo Pharma, Bosch, Wipro, Lupin are among the gainers, whereas Infratel, Tech Mahindra, M&M, TCS are losing sheen on NSE.

The Indian equity market extended gains for a fourth straight day tracking positive global market setup, with an advance in automakers offsetting losses in select metal stocks and also on continued buying by domestic institutional investors amid expectations of positive GDP data to be released later in the day.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,474 up 80 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,190 up 48 points. Out of 1,800 stocks traded on the NSE, 447 declined, 1,095 advanced and 338 remained unchanged today. A total of 20 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while eight stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.50% at 12,429, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 1% at 12,295. Ambuja Cement, Grasim, ACC, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, Maruti are among the gainers, whereas Idea, Infratel, BPCL, Hindalco, ITC are losing sheen on NSE.

Buying activity is seen in Banking, Healthcare, Consumer Durables, Auto, Capital Goods sectors while Metal, Telecom, Oil & Gas, FMCG, Energy sectors are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is down 0.48% at 17.6225.

The Indian equity market started off the first day of October series on a positive note, rebounding sharply after previous day's sharp sell-off. The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,875 up 47 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,602 up 11 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.76% at 13,012 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.90% at 12,627. GAIL, Infosys, Wipro, Sun Pharma, RIL and SBI are among the gainers, whereas Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, Dr.Reddy's and Cipla are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in realty, oil & gas, utilities, auto and pharma sectors, while FMCG, consumer durables and telecom are showing weakness on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is down 2.19% at 18.0450. Out of 1,850 stocks traded on the NSE, 564 declined, 916 advanced and 370 remained unchanged today.

A total of six stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 42 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The rupee opened marginally higher one paise at 66.85/$ against US Dollar Friday as against the previous close of 66.84/$.

Market participants are anxiously awaiting the Monetary Policy Review on October 4, the first to be held under the newly appointed RBI Governor Urjit Patel and the first to be decided by a six-member panel.

On the economy front, Finance Ministry exuded confidence that currency and stock markets will stabilise in the next few days and decisive action against terrorism will spur growth.

Asian markets are trading mixed. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.6%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 1.3%, while Shanghai Composite is trading in green.

Bank Nifty Up 1%; PNB Among Top Nifty Gainers

Bank Nifty gained 1 percent to 15,806, and PSU Bank index zoomed 1.9 percent to 2,456.Punjab National Bank zoomed 3% to Rs.151.40. SBI, Bank of Baroda and Axis Bank zoomed over 2% each.The government have announced a steep cut in interest rates on small savings schemes.

Banking stocks will be in the limelight for the coming week as finance ministry has scheduled a meeting with senior bankers of public lenders on March 21 for the issue of dealing with large loan defaults as part of an exercise to clean up balance sheet of banks.

The CNX PSU Bank opened at 2,432 and hit a high of 2,472 and a low of 2,432. Bank of Baroda is currently trading at Rs. 146.5, up by Rs. 2.45 or 1.7% from its previous closing of Rs. 144.05 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 145.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 147.25 and Rs. 144.75 respectively. So far 4424608(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 33191.42 crore.

Punjab National Bank is currently trading at Rs. 86.7, up by Rs. 2.35 or 2.79% from its previous closing of Rs. 84.35 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 85.4 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 87.45 and Rs. 85.1 respectively. So far 5709397(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 16562.94 crore.
