Nifty Holds 10,800 Mark Metal Stocks Down 2%

Equity benchmark indices traded lower mirroring weak global cues as trade war between the US and China escalated. On the sectoral front, metal, realty, PSU Bank and media stocks were down.


Shares of Dr.Reddy’s were trading lower after a court in the US retrained it from selling generic variant of Subaxone.


At 10:04 AM, BSE Sensex was at 35,587 down 36 points, while NSE Nifty was at 10,802, down 16 points.


BSE Mid-cap Index is trading slightly up 0.01% at 16,001, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading down at 0.57% at 16,961.


HPCL (+3%), ICICI Bank (+2.2%), IOC (+1.9%), BPCL (+1.3%) and Indiabulls HF (+0.88%) were the top gainers on NSE.


Vedanta (-3.2%), Hindalco (-2.6%), Tata Steel (-2.1%), Coal India (-1.5%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (-1.4%) were the top losers on NSE.


Shares of BPCL, HPCL and IOC gained 2-3% after fall in crude oil prices.


Yes Bank said it has received final approval and registration from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for acting as Custodian of Securities. Stock is trading lower.


Brent crude futures extended losses, down 1% to trade below $73 a barrel on likely increase in output in the OPEC meeting later in the week.


The Indian rupee slipped by 16 paise to 68.18, its lowest level since May 25 per US dollar against Friday's close of 68.02.


The India VIX is up 3.29% at 12.4675.


Out of 2,055 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,044 declined, 521 advanced and 490 remained unchanged today.


A total of 12 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 32 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
