SGX Nifty is currently trading in the green up 22 points at 11,244 levels.
Markets are expected to continue the positive momentum from yesterday’s trading session backed by strong earnings from frontline companies.
Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, Bank of Baroda and Mahindra& Mahindra Financials are some of the large-cap companies set to announce their Q1 yearnings later in the day.
Major Asian markets are trading mixed at present; Nikkei is up 0.09%, Hang Seng is down 0.59%, while Shanghai Composite is trading 0.37% lower.
US Markets: Stocks ended on a mixed note yesterday. The Dow climbed 0.4% to 25,527.07, the Nasdaq dipped 1% to 7,852.18, and the S&P 500 dropped 0.3% to 2,837.44. A notable decline by Facebook (FB) weighed on the Nasdaq.
European markets ended in the green yesterday after President Donald Trump and European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker agreed to work towards eliminating trade barriers on industrial goods. The FTSE was up 0.06%, CAC was up 0.99%, while DAX closed 1.79% higher
FII Data: In yesterday’s trading session, FIIs bought 2,453cr stock in the cash market whereas DIIs sold 2,716cr worth of stock. In the derivative market, FIIs bought 660cr of index futures and bought 2,867cr worth of index options. In the stock futures segment, FIIs sold 145cr worth of stock futures and bought 134cr stock options.
FII View: In yesterday’s trading session, FII closed out majority of their positions in the derivative market ahead of the expiry. Marginal bullish positions were created which is indicated by 15,571 net long contracts in index futures and 1,229 long contracts in index call options. The long-short ratio currently stands at 1.4
