Equity benchmark indices opened higher on Monday HDFC twins, ICICI Bank, ITC, Power Grid, and NTPC.
Vedanta rose 3.5% on the NSE after the NGT order allowing the reopening of its Tuticorin plant.
The Sensex rose 205 points to 36,168, while the Nifty jumped 52 points to 10,856. The market breadth is positive as 952 shares advanced, 569 shares declined, and 537 shares remained unchanged.
All sectoral indices are trading higher, with most gains seen in banking, metals, financial services, FMCG, IT, and automobiles stocks.
Volatility index India VIX is down 0.11% to 15.14.
The most active stocks were Vedanta, Yes Bank, Indiabulls HF, ICICI Bank, and NTPC.
Share price of Security and Intelligence Services rose 2% after company acquired 51% stake in Uniq Detective and Security Services.
Meanwhile, the rupee on Monday opened 11 paise lower at 71.79 against the US dollar.
