Benchmark indices opened marginally higher, supporting the upward trend were Information Technology, Auto and Consumer Durable stocks. The pick of the day is Sheela Foam that started trade today and already crossed the Rs 1000 mark wherein its listing price was Rs. 730. However, post yesterday's bull run, the market has slowed down considerably.
Also, the traders are in a cautious mode ahead of the US Federal Reserve's Monetary Policy meeting. The industry is hoping that there will be a rate hike by the US Fed in the coming week. The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26742.69 up 48.41 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,251.15 up 4.30 points. A total of 23 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 6 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Out of 1,874 stocks traded on the NSE, 656 declined, 818 advanced and 400 remained unchanged today.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.06% at 12516.04, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.29% at 12292.26.
Some buying activity is seen in Information Technology, Auto, Consumer Durables, FMCG, Capital Goods while Oil & Gas, Bank, Energy, Finance, are showing weakness on BSE. Infosys, Hindalco, Tata Motors, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motor DVR, Asian Paints, ITC, are among the gainers, whereas Bosch, BPCL, Bajaj Auto, Infratel, Coal India, Grasim, HDFC are losing sheen on NSE.
