Following the result declaration yesterday, Coal India and many other listed firms had posted a negative result. The impact of that is trickling on to the market performace today morning. Also, sentiments are in check as investors focus on the outcome of the US Central Bank announcement that is scheduled to occur later in the day.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26648 down 50 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,203 down 18 points. A total of 8 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 8 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Out of 1872 stocks traded on the NSE, 670 declined, 767 advanced and 435 remained unchanged today. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.07% at 12350.70, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.24% at 12252.16.
Some buying activity is observed in Pharma, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Realty, Consumer Durables sectors, while Auto, Capital Goods, Bank, Metal are showing weakness on BSE. Asian Paints, Infratel, Axis Bank, Grasim, TCS, Reliance, Wipro are among the gainers, whereas Coal India, Tata Motor DVR, Idea, IndusInd Bank, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, ITC are losing sheen on NSE. The INDIA VIX is up 2.22% at 16.2775.
