SGX Nifty is indicating a negative opening for the Indian marketsSGX Nifty is indicating a negative opening for the Indian markets.Indian markets are expected to trade with a negative bias in today’s session, as traders react to BJP’s loss in key constituencies in UP and Bihar by poll and continued geopolitical concerns regarding trade tariffs.

Global markets: Asian markets are trading in the red at present. Nikkei is currently down 0.47%, Hang Seng is trading 0.12% lower, while Shanghai Composite is trading down 0.13%.

US Markets: Stocks corrected sharply after opening the yesterday's session in the green. The Dow Jones corrected for the third consecutive session ending at 24,762 down 1%, the S&P 500 fell 0.6%, to 2,750, while the Nasdaq Composite Index declined 0.2% ending at 7,497. Rumors that the Fed may raise interest rate by nearly 50 basis points in its meeting next week spooked the markets.

European markets ended on lackluster note yesterday with the FTSE closing 0.09% lower, CAC ended 0.18% lower, while DAX ended up 0.14%. 

FII Data: In yesterday’s session, FIIs sold 258 crore stock in the cash market, whereas DIIs sold 432 crore worth of stock. In the derivative market, FIIs sold 218 crore of Index futures and bought 327 crore worth of Index options. In the Stock futures segment, FIIs sold 308 crore worth of stock futures and bought 47 crore stock options.

FII View: FII trading activity in yesterday’s session suggests that they have built up bearish positions, which are deduced from the fact that they created 9041 short contracts in Index futures, while they also purchased 5402 long contracts in Index put options.
