Nifty Back Around 10,150; Nifty Bank Turns Negative

All sectoral indices are trading in the red with Nifty PSU Bank being the worst performer.

Market remains volatile with Nifty heading back to around 10,150, while Nifty Bank turned negative. The gains were capped as market participants were cautious after the US central bank increased the pace of projected interest rate hikes in 2019 and 2020. On Wednesday, the Fed raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point, bringing its target range of federal rates to 1.50-1.75%.

Nifty 50 was at 10,163.25 points, up 14.85 points, while BSE-Sensex stood at 33,158.95 points, 22.77 points higher from the previous close.

All sectoral indices are trading in the red with Nifty PSU Bank being the worst performer. Nifty PSU Bank is down (-1.48%) followed by Nifty Media, which was at (-0.84). Nifty Financial Services was the only index trading in the green and marginally up.

Tata Motors gains 2% on order win for electric buses.

HCC hits 19-month low on report that its arm may file for bankruptcy.

La Opala Rg at 3-month low as stock trades ex-bonus.

Genus Power Infra up 5% on Rs125cr order win.

Majesco hits one-month high on back of recent orders.

Jindal Drilling gained on arbitration payout settlement.

ONGC (+2.34%), Vedanta (+1.56%), Indiabulls Housing Fin (+1.32%), Tata Motors (+1.27%) and Eicher Motors (+1.10%) were top gainers on Nifty50. 

BPCL (-3.20%), HPCL (-2.96%), SBI (-1.92%), M&M (-1.67%) and ICICI Bank (-1.40%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,019 stocks traded on Nifty, 455 advanced, 1,186 declined and 378 remained unchanged.

A total of 5 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 110 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
