SGX Nifty is currently trading 41 points higher at 11615. Markets, after having consolidated in the past few trading sessions, could witness a continuation of the upward rally with Nifty set to open near its life time highs. 11600 CE has the highest open interest build up, if the markets are able to sustain its initial gains, we could witness short covering, which could propel the Index higher.
Global markets: Asian markets are trading strongly in the green at present; Hang Seng is up 1.21%, Shanghai Composite is trading 0.35% higher, while Nikkei is trading up 0.88%.
US Markets: Stocks ended firmly in the green in Friday’s trading session. The Dow rose 0.5% to 25,790.35, the Nasdaq gained 0.9% to 7,945.98 and the S&P 500 climbed 0.6% to 2,874.69. The strength on Wall Street came following remarks by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. Powell reiterated the Fed's stance that further gradual increases in interest rates will likely be appropriate if the strong growth in income and jobs continue.
European markets too managed to close on a positive note in Friday’s trading session with the FTSE up 0.19%; CAC was up 0.24%, while DAX closed 0.23% higher.
FII Data: In Friday’s trading session FIIs sold 75 crores stock whereas DIIs bought 904 crores worth of stock. In the derivative market, FIIs sold 47 crores of Index futures and sold 2 crores worth of Index options. In the Stock futures segment, FIIs sold 222 crores worth of stock futures and sold 134 crores stock options.
FII View: In Friday’s trading session FII created marginal bearish positions in the Index Futures segment market which is deduced by the fact that they created 1761 short contracts, while simultaneously creating 2965 short contracts in Index Call Options and 2713 long contracts in Index Put Options.
