The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,421 up 82 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,756 up 21 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.18% at 10,566, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.45% at 10,540.

Hero MotoCorp, NTPC, Sun Pharma, Infosys, ITC, Bajaj-Auto, TCS and HDFC Bank are among the gainers, whereas ONGC, GAIL, HDFC, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Asian Paints and Maruti Suzuki are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in power, IT, FMCG, banking, teck and utilities sectors, while consumer durables and realty are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is down 1.08% at 16.6250. Out of 1,794 stocks traded on the NSE, 542 declined, 924 advanced and 328 remained unchanged today.

A total of 22 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 19 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The Indian rupee opened higher for the fifth consecutive session. The rupee gained 2 paise and is trading at 66.35/$ on Thursday as against the previous close of 66.37/$. On Wednesday, the rupee registered handsome gains against the greenback, aided by weaker trend in US dollar against the basket of currencies. The currency markets were influenced by the dovish stance adopted by Fed Chief Janet Yellen at the Economic club of New York.
