The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,685 up 39 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,494 up mere nine points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.38% at 10,263, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.65% at 10,352. Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Lupin, GAIL, RIL, NTPC and ONGC are among the gainers, whereas HUL, Maruti Suzuki, SBI, Infosys, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in metal, oil and gas, realty, energy, capital goods, pharma, industrial and utilities sectors, while banking, IT, finance and teck sectors are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is up 4.30% at 18.8625. Out of 1,805 stocks traded on the NSE, 607 declined, 914 advanced and 284 remained unchanged today.

A total of 14 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 16 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The Indian rupee opened lower by 13 paise at 67.21/$ on Tuesday as against previous close of 67.08/$. On Moday, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty, forex and money markets are closed on account of Maha Shivratri. All wholesale commodity markets, including metal, are also closed.
