The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,232 up 452 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,375 up 153 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 2.14% at 10,078, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 2.52% at 10,105.
SBI, BHEL, ICICI Bank, Hero MotoCorp, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, Axis Bank and NTPC are among the gainers, whereas M&M, ITC, Bajaj Auto, Coal India and Sun Pharma are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in banking, finance, industrial, telecom, realty, oil and gas and auto sectors on BSE. The INDIA VIX is up 1.59% at 18.9700. Out of 1,791 stocks traded on the NSE, 215 declined, 1,303 advanced and 273 remained unchanged today.
A total of 10 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 13 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The Indian rupee opened higher by 12 paise at 67.74/$ on Wednesday as against previous close of 67.86/$. On Tuesday, rupee witnessed handsome upside against the greenback, with values gaining more than 55 paise to close well below 68 levels. Markets have been influenced by the optimism emanating from the Union Budget for FY2016‐17.
