The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,633 up 390 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,480 up 111 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.65% at 10,117, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 1.35% at 10,210.
Tata Steel, BHEL, Tata Motors, L&T, Dr.Reddy's, Adani Ports and TCS are among the gainers, whereas ICICI Bank, Lupin, Maruti Suzuki, ITC and HUL are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in metal, industrial, capital goods, metal, auto, IT, pharma, consumer durables and oil and gas sectors, while banking sector is showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 3.04% at 18.4125. Out of 1,793 stocks traded on the NSE, 537 declined, 980 advanced and 276 remained unchanged today. A total of nine stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 12 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The Indian rupee opened higher by 14 paise at 67.40/$ on Thursday as against previous close of 67.54/$. On Wednesday, the rupee extended the recovery, with spot value moving towards 67.25 against the greenback in overseas NDF markets. The currency is inspired by the buoyancy in the equity markets and the optimism emanating from the Union Budget for FY2016‐17.
