Shares of the Mumbai-based Unichem Labs gained ~8.7%, the most in over three months after the US FDA completed the inspection of its Ghaziabad unit with no observation.
the BSE Sensex was trading 47.71 points lower at 34,367.87. The Nifty50 fell 6.15 points to 10,557.90.
GAIL (+0.74%), NTPC (+0.49%), Kotak Bank (+0.45%), Hindalco, Titan (+0.36%) were the top gainers on the NSE at the opening bell.
ICICI Bank (-1.47%), Cipla (-1.26%), Infosys (-1.20%), Bajaj Finance (-0.64%), Tech M (-0.64%) were the top losers on the NSE at the opening bell.
Japan's Nikkei, Hong Kong's Hang Seng, China's Shanghai Composite and Korea's Kospi were trading mixed with a negative bias.
