SGX Nifty is trading at 11,776, up 3 points. For today, we expect another positive start as Nifty attempts to test the previous highs.
Nifty saw a volatile session end with strong gains as markets resumed their upward trend after 2/3 days of correction. IT, metals & reality led the gainers, while FMCG stocks saw profit booking. Midcap stocks also saw positive momentum as risk-on trade saw more high beta stocks gain traction.
Global Markets: Asian markets opened flat to marginally positive with most Asian indices except Japan trading in the green. The rally in semi-conductors is seeing relative outperformance from the Taiwanese market with the index up over 16% this quarter. Expect flows into Chinese stocks drive most Asian indices higher as we see ETF flows get stronger into emerging markets.
US Markets: Dow Jones closes with gains as equities continue to outperform all asset classes. Oil hit $70 in the best rally of last 3 years in the last quarter as supply constraints drive prices higher. All eyes are now on the US/China talks, as globally the next leg of equities would see positive momentum with relaxation in tariffs being the key.
FII/DII data: In yesterday’s trading session FIIs bought 798cr worth of stock in cash, whereas DIIs sold 3266cr worth of stock. However, the equivalent amount of positions were created in index options, resulting in no change in the index options long-short ratio.
