SGX Nifty is trading at 11663, up 12 points. On Wednesday, select fixed income mutual funds postponement of returns hurt sentiments as bond yields rose. Metals, banks, and financial services stocks saw weakness as traders hedged positions ahead of results due from next week.

Nifty saw a very strong reversal yesterday with large-cap stocks seeing immense selling pressure. The broader was market managed to close in the green despite a 1% cut on the index.

Global market: Asian markets opened flat as the Japanese Nikkei traded mildly in the red even as most Asian indices closed yesterday in the green. The undertone now will see earnings be the next catalyst as markets await further clarity on trade tariff talks.

US Market: Dow Jones closes flat even as Nasdaq sees an uptick as technology stocks show momentum. Crude rallies further to 6-month highs as supply constraints defy Russian call to increase output. Bond yields fall further to 2.47% which sees the dollar see some weakness.

FII/DII Data: In yesterday’s trading session FIIs bought 1430cr worth of stock in cash, whereas DIIs bought 461cr worth of stock. In the derivative market, FIIs sold 1170cr of Index futures and bought 307cr worth of Index options. In the Stock futures segment, FIIs sold 689cr worth of stock futures and bought 5cr stock options.

FII View: In Index future segment, FIIs index future long/short ratio came down to 1.7x vs 2x for the third day in a row on account of heavy unwinding of long positions. On the Index option’s front, FII’s created almost identical positions in call and put options, keeping the long/short ratio around the same levels. As the volatility continued to trend higher, FIIs have started to unwind their bullish positions since the start of this week.
