SGX Nifty is 11685, down 7 points. For today, we expect a test of 11700 & beyond even as we head into a holiday-shortened week.
On Friday, Nifty saw a positive start gain momentum as the trading day progressed to see a solid rally end the day near the highs. Nifty & Bank Nifty ended the day with gains of ~0.5% as the broader market also joined the rally. Auto, FMCG, and Realty led the leaders, while metals saw selective selling pressure as most sectors closed in the green.
Global markets: Asian markets opened well in the green with the Japanese Nikkei gaining over 275 points in early trade. With most Asian indices seeing huge buying interest from the start of 2019, expect more color on earnings to be the trend decider going forward. Positive sentiment & ETF flows see most Asian indices outperform most global indices year to date.
US market: US stocks see the highest close in 6 months with the S&P 500 index only 1% shy of new all-time highs. Bond yields resume uptick closing at 2.55% as equities see a resumption of buying. Oil prices also rally marginally ignoring higher inventories in the US with global growth outlook acting as a near term catalyst.
