The BSE Sensex opened at 26,704, touched an intra-day high of 26,800 and low of 26,529. It finally ended with a loss of 38 points at 26,553. The NSE Nifty opened at 8,105 hitting a high of 8,116 and low of 8,040, before signing off with a loss of 21 points or 0.25% at 8,040.
The India VIX (Volatility) index was down 0.40% to 19.47. On the global front, China's Shanghai Composite index and Hang Seng closed up 2% and 2.6%, respectively.
In Europe, the FTSE 100 was rallied 1%. On the other hand, DAX and the CAC 40 was down marginally. Out of 1,748 stocks traded on the NSE,841 declined and 650 advanced today.
