Sensex, Nifty Consolidate Gains

The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at -3.81% (provisional) for the month of October, 2015 (over October, 2014) as compared to -4.54% (provisional) for the previous month and 1.66% during the corresponding month of the previous year. Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 0.34% compared to a build up rate of 1.89% in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,793 up 182 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,824 up 62 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.27% at 10,682, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.48% at 11,179. Some buying activity is seen in banking, capital goods, fmcg, metal and oil & gas sectors, while IT and teck sectors are showing weakness on BSE.

Tata Steel, Dr. Reddy's Lab, ITC, ICICI Bank and Lupin are among the gainers, whereas HUL, Coal India,Tata Motors, TCS, Infosys, Axis Bank and ONGC are losing sheen on BSE. The INDIA VIX was up 0.32% at 17.71. Out of 1,756 stocks traded on the NSE, 662 declined and 833 advanced today. A total of 53 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 43 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
