The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,869 up 109 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,839 up 33 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.52% at 10,733, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.67% at 11,256.
Some buying activity is seen in banking, capital goods, pharma, auto, FMCG and oil & gas sectors, while IT, consumer durables and teck sectors are showing weakness on BSE. Vedanta, Hindalco, Tata Steel, ITC, GAIL, Cipla and BHEL are among the gainers, whereas Dr. Reddy's, Infosys, Bharti Aitel, Hero MotoCorp and ONGCare losing sheen on BSE.
The India VIX (Volatility) index is down 3.4% to 17.25. Out of 1,745 stocks traded on the NSE, 451 declined and 968 advanced today. A total of 44 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 23 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
