The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,663 down 22 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,545 down mere one points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.26% at 10,554, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.45% at 10,645.
Lupin, NTPC, BHEL, Dr.Reddy's, GAIL, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, Tata Motors and SBI are among the gainers, whereas Hero MotoCorp, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, HUL, Axis Bank, TCS and Tata Steel are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in power, basic materials, capital goods, utilities and pharma sector, while consumer durables,IT and teck are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is down 3.07% at 16.4150. Out of 1,779 stocks traded on the NSE, 561 declined, 856 advanced and 382 remained unchanged today.
A total of 10 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 13 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. Currency and debt markets to remain closed today. However, Indian stock markets will remain open for trading. Banks will remain shut as today is 'Gudi Padwa', start of a new year.
