The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,566 up 420 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,817 up 108 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.19% at 10,945, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 1.28% at 10,967.
M&M, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Wipro, Wipro, and SBI are among the gainers, whereas GAIL, Infosys, Piramal Enterprises, Eclerx, Marico, TTK Prestige and Va Tech Wabag are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in telecom, banking, industrial, capital goods, realty, metal and power on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 0.98% at 15.8675. Out of 1,797 stocks traded on the NSE, 264 declined, 1,205 advanced and 328 remained unchanged today. A total of 25 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while six stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The Indian rupee opened higher by 8 paise at 66.35/$ on Wednesday as against the previous close of 66.43/$. The rupee maintained its firm tone, helped by positive momentum in the domestic equities. In addition, projections of an above average monsoon also boosted the sentiment on the street.
