Nifty Above 10,400 Mark; HDFC, IndusInd Bank Stocks Lead

Indices were trading higher led by gains in shares of media, metal, Bank Nifty, pharma, realty and auto.Key indices erased opening gains due to the downtrend in PSU bank, auto, pharma and private banks.
Losses were seen in ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank and M&M came under selling pressure.

the BSE Sensex was trading at 33,856, up 109 points, while the Nifty50 index was trading at 10,400, up 41 points.

The BSE Midcap and the BSE Smallcap indices rose 0.62% and 0.10% respectively.

Shares of Gitanjali Gems cracked 5% after the CBI has detained Vipul Chitalia, Vice President (Banking Operations) of Gitanjali Group in Punjab National Bank fraud case.

Shares of Bharat Wire Ropes gained 3% after the company announced that its board will meet on Friday to consider raising funds.

JSW Energy shares advanced 1% after the company acquired JSW Electric Vehicles Private Ltd. The JSW Electric Vehicles is part of diversification strategy of JSW Energy to foray into electric vehicles, energy storage systems and charging infrastructure.

Somany Ceramics gained 0.5% after its board approved plan to merge three units of promoter group with itself.

Volatility index India VIX slipped 2.11% to 15.0700.

Indiabulls HF (+2.3%), BPCL (+2.2%), Zee (+2%), IOC (+1.9%) and IndusInd Bank (+1.9%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Infratel (-2.2%), Lupin (-1.5%), Bosch (-1.4%), ICICI Bank (-1.2%) and Sun Pharma (-1.1%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,013 stocks traded on the NSE, 882 advanced, 736 declined and 395 remained unchanged today.

A total of 11 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 46 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
