The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,189 up 111 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,712 up 29 points. The Indian stock market opened higher on Monday tracking firm global cues. The NSE Nifty hits at 16-month high on Monday.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.08% at 12,836, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.76% at 12,400. Adani Ports, HeroMotocorp, Lupin, RIL, Cipla, SBI, Wipro, HDFC are the gainers, while Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel are the losers.
Some buying activity is seen in oil & gas, metal, energy, consumer durables and realty sectors, while telecom and Capital Goods are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX was up 1.65% at 14.5900. Out of 1,855 stocks traded on the NSE, 699 declined, 917 advanced and 239 remained unchanged today.
Wockhardt tumbled 9.8% to Rs.916. The US Food and Drugs Administration issued an import alert on Wockhardt's Ankleshwar plant for alleged violation of good manufacturing practices. Tata Coffee jumped 9.5% to Rs.126 after the company reported its net profit rose 135.6% to Rs.64.10 crore in the quarter ended June 2016 as against Rs.27.21 crore during the previous quarter ended June 2015.
