Sensex, Nifty Trade In Negative Zone; Midcaps Outperform

Share indices erased early gains and were trading down led by weakness in shares of information technology and energy companies. This is the fourth session in a row where the benchmark indices have been weak.

The BSE Sensex was down 24 points at 33,125 and the NSE Nifty slipped 10 points to 10,216.

The S&P BSE MidCap Index rose 0.42% and the S&P BSE SmallCap Index advanced 0.54%.

Ambuja , Hero MotoCorp, Kotak Mahindra Bank, L&T, UPL gained the most on Nifty50.

Tech Mahindra, Indiabulls HF, Coal India, Tata Steel and HCL Tech were the top losers.

Some buying was seen in Auto, FMCG, Pvt bank and Media sectors, while Metal, Pharma, Realty and IT sectors showed weakness on the NSE.

The fuel marketing companies such as Indian Oil Corp, Hindustan PetroleumCorp and Bharat Petroleum Corp and information technology majors Infosys, HCL Technologies and Wipro were among the worst hit on the Nifty50, down 1-2%.

Hero MotoCorp and Tata Motors were among the gainers ahead of their monthly sales data for November.

India VIX rose by 5.23% at 14.26 level.

Out of 1,986 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,100 advanced, 552 declined, and 334 remained unchanged today.

A total of 96 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while eight stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
