Indices are trading marginally higher after hitting a fresh record high in early trade due to profit-booking by funds and retail investors.Share indices recouped their early losses, led by gains in shares of realty, media and automobile companies.
the BSE Sensex was trading at 33,883, up 46 points, while the Nifty50 was ruling at 10,469, up 11 points.
Among specific stocks, shares of Torrent Pharmaceuticals rose 1% after the company's Dahej unit in Gujarat received approval from German drug regulator to export five bulk drugs.
Shares of Unitech recovered from early session weakness and surged 5% after the National Company Law Tribunal today adjourned sine die the government's plea seeking to take over the management of the company.
Shares of Amara Raja Batteries extended gains to the second straight session and jumped 4% after the company said it has commissioned the first phase of its two-wheeler battery plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.
HDFC Bank informed exchanges that the board of directors today has approved raising of funds aggregating up to Rs24,000cr. Stock down marginally.
In broader markets, the BSE Midcap was up 0.48%, while BSE Smallcap gained 0.94%.
PSU Bank, Metal, Financial Services and Bank Nifty Index are the top losers on the NSE, while Nifty Realty, FMCG, Pharma, IT, Metal, Media and Auto Index were the top gainers.
ONGC (+2.2%), Hindalco (+2%), Hero MotoCorp (+1.9%), Lupin (+1.6%) and GAIL (+1.4%) were the top gainers on the Nifty50.
Eicher Motors (-2.4%), Dr. Reddy’s (-1.6%), HPCL (-1.3%), Tata Steel (-1%) and Adani Ports (-0.83%) were the top losers in today’s trade.
India VIX dropped 1.21%.
Out of 1,988 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,100 advanced, 561 declined and 327 remained unchanged today.
A total of 136 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while five stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
