Nifty Trades Above 10,300 Mark

Equity benchmarks remained positive today led by ITC, PSU banks, auto and HDFC Group stocks. However, the upside was capped by Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Infosys.

Pharma stocks gained in the afternoon trade with Sun Pharma up 1.7% and Aurobindo Pharma up 2.7%.

At 2:56 PM, the Nifty50 Index was up 50 points, or 0.49% at 10,316 level, while the Sensex was at 33,444 points, up 0.58% or 193 points.

Sadbhav Infrastructure Projects has been declared lowest bidder for 4-laning of highway in Rajasthan.

Auto stocks rose after strong November sales data from SIAM. Passenger car sales increased by 4.5% at 1.81 lakh units.

Parag Milk Foods rose as much as 12%, the most in over a year, to Rs273 after it tied up with Taj Group to serve its products on international flights.

The BSE Midcap Index and BSE Smallcap Index was up by 0.44% and 0.35%, respectively.

All sectoral indices on the NSE were trading in the green except Nifty Pvt banks index.

Aurobindo (+2.5%), M&M (+2.2%), Lupin (+2.19%), Wirpo (+2%) and UltraTech (+2%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Infratel (-1.4%), NTPC (-1.05%), Asian Paints (-0.90%), ONGC (-0.83%) and Indiabulls HF (-0.59%) and were the top losers in today’s trade.

India VIX gained 3.5% as investors adopted a wait and watch approach over the Gujarat assembly elections exit polls and the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy meeting later this week.

Out of 2,002 stocks traded on the NSE, 940 advanced, 742 declined and 320 remained unchanged today.

A total of 108 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in today's trade, while 20 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
