Indices extended gains and the Nifty50 reclaimed the 10,100 mark as shares of major banks and metal companies rebound.
Benchmark indices extended gains and Nifty50 reclaimed the 10,100 mark as shares of major banks and metal companies rebounded after seeing a selloff in the past two sessions. Gains in Asian markets also underpinned the rise in local shares today.
Indices have been range bound this week as investors are refraining from taking fresh positions ahead of key events lined up next week, including the US Federal Reserve's policy review and elections in Gujarat.
the Sensex jumped 197 points or 0.61% at 32,795 while the NSE Nifty gained 67 points or 0.67% to 10,112.
IDBI Bank board has approved sale of 28 lakh shares in NSDL. Stock up 1%.
Maruti Suzuki India hit fresh record high of Rs8,745 per share, rising 2% intraday today.
Weizmann Forex gained 3% after Girik Wealth Advisors bought 70,000 shares (0.6%) of the company at Rs1,399 per share through a block deal yesterday.
The BSE Midcap index and BSE Smallcap index was up by 0.9%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.
All the BSE sectoral indices led by capital goods (+1.6%), consumer durables (+1.4%), power (+1.2%), metal (+0.9%), banking (+0.6%) and oil and gas (+0.8%) were trading in the green.
GAIL (+4.3%), Tech Mahindra (+3.7%), Bosch (+2.6%), Aurobindo Pharma (+2.3%) and Eicher (+2.2%) were the top gainers on the Nifty50.
Coal India (-0.5%), TCS (-0.2%), Sun Pharma (-0.18%), Power Grid (-0.15%) and RIL (-0.13%) were the top losers in today’s trade.
India VIX dropped 1.9%.
Out of 1,985 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,275 advanced, 373 declined and 335 remained unchanged today.
A total of 36 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 17 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
