Market Remains Strong; Sensex Above 33K

Benchmark index Sensex gained more than 250 points to regain the 33,000 mark. Auto and metal shares jumped more than 1% in early morning deals, while the consumer durables rose 0.70%.

the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 33,236, up 287 points, while the broader Nifty50 Index was ruling at 10,259, up 93 points.

In broader markets, the BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices were up 0.8% and 1.1%, respectively.

Maruti Suzki's (+2%) market cap rose to Rs2.74 lakh crore, while the State Bank of India's (-1%) market cap stood at Rs2.73 lakh crore.

Shares of telecom stock were trading higher led by gains in Bharti Airtel which rose 2.5%.

Shares of NCC hit a 52-week high as the company along with Manav Infra Projects has bagged an order from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority for a metro rail project.

All sector indices on the NSE were trading in the green.

Tata Steel (+3.3%), Hindalco (+2.7%), Vedanta (+2.5%), Maruti (+4.4%) and UltraTech (+2.4%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Infratel (-1.7%), Power Grid (-0.8%), NTPC (-0.7%), SBI (-0.5%) and Asian Paints (-0.50%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

India VIX dropped 1.26%.

Out of 1,988 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,227 advanced, 414 declined and 347 remained unchanged today.

A total of 65 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 11 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
