The BSE Sensex was trading at 33,753, up 290 points, while the Nifty50 index was ruling at 10,429, up 95 points.Indices remained strong with all the sectoral indices trading higher as BJP now leads the race in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections. The lead gainers were Vedanta, Hindalco, Adani Ports.

Shares of Dish TV India gained today as it said that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has approved the merger of Videocon d2h with the company.
Shares of Aarti Industries rose over 3% to hit a three-month high of 979.70 rupees after the company said its board will meet on Thursday to consider the proposal of a share buyback.
In the morning trade, shares of Cipla rose nearly 3% after the company on Saturday received the USFDA's tentative approval for Darunavir Hydrate tablet.
Shares of Adani group companies recovered after trends showed the Bharatiya Janata Party leading on more than 100 seats of the 182 in Gujarat Assembly.
In broader markets, both BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices gained ~1% each.
All sectoral indices on the NSE were in the green. Nifty PSU Bank led the sectoral gainers as the index is up 3% followed by Media, Pharma and Auto.
Vedanta (4.4%), Hindalco (4.2%), Adani Ports (2.9%), SBI (2.7%) and M&M (2.7%) were the top gainers on the Nifty50.
Tech Mahindra (-1.3%), IOC (-1%), HindPetro (-0.8%), BPCL (-0.7%) and HCL Tech (-0.5%) were the top losers in today’s trade.
India VIX fell 12.95%.
Out of 2001 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,142 advanced, 498 declined and 361 remained unchanged today.
