The market breadth was in favour of the advances on Wednesday morning with 1472 stocks advancing while 169 stocks declined and 372 stocks remained unchanged. On the BSE, 2035 stocks advanced while 337 stocks declined and 66 remained unchanged.was mayhem so as to say till yesterday as the Indian benchmark indices breathed a sigh of relief with the Sensex gaining over 157 points in the morning trade while the Nifty added 64 points, trading above the 10,500 mark.
Nifty realty was the outperforming sector led by gains in Unitech and Godrej Properties, adding over 3 percent each followed by HDIL, Oberoi Realty and Sobha.
The PSU banking index was up almost 1 percent led by Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank and State Bank of India.
The Auto sector was trading handsomely as stocks like Apollo Tyres jumped 3.5 percent while Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland gained 2-3 percent. Bharat Forge and Amara Raja Batteries were the other gainers.
