Markets are expected to be volatile in today’s trade ahead of the first RBI meeting in the new year, traders would keep an eye on monetary policy committee comments; interest rates are accepted to remain unchanged at 6%.

Aurobindo Pharma, BEML, Cipla, Eicher, Hexaware, SRF, Torrent Power and Voltas are some of the large-cap companies set to announce their Q3 results today. 

Global markets
Major Asian markets are trading in the green after witnessing steep corrections in yesterday’s trade.

Nikkei is up 2.88%, Shanghai Composite is trading 1.49 % higher. while Hang Seng is trading up 2.23%.

US Markets: Wall Street witnessed heavy volatility before ending the session significantly higher.

The Dow jumped 2.3% to 24,912.77, the Nasdaq surged up 2.1% to 7,115.88 and the S&P 500 climbed 1.7% to 2,695.14.

The volatility was mainly witnessed as traders seemed uncertain regarding the near-term outlook for the markets.

European markets closed in the red yesterday with FTSE down 2.71%, CAX was down 2.40% and DAX closed 2.38% lower.

FII Data: In yesterday’s session, FII’s sold 2326 crores stock in the cash market whereas DII’s bought 1699 crores worth of stock.

In the derivative market, FII’s sold 1638 crores of index futures and bought 2836 crores worth of Index options.

In the stock futures segment, FII’s bought 1463 crores worth of stock futures and sold 41 crores stock options.
