Indices fell over 1% due to selling pressure seen in HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndusInd Bank.The BSE Sensex dropped by 395 points or 1.1% in the afternoon trade as investor sentiment was weighed down by a sell-off in global markets. Capital goods, bank, metal, industrial, finance, basic material, consumer durables, realty and auto sectors witnessed selling. Telecom segment is trading in the positive zone.
the BSE Sensex was trading at 34,637, down 430 points, while the Nifty50 index was trading at 10,633, down 127 points.
Shares Vakrangee were locked in a 10% lower-circuit for the fourth session in a row.
Kalyani Steels shares fell more than 5.5% after its Q3 net profit declined 10.2% year-on-year to Rs30.8cr and revenue slipped 2.7% to Rs337.1cr.
The BSE MidCap Index slipped 0.95% and the BSE SmallCap Index fell 1.15%.
Volatility index India VIX gained 5.62% at 16.1075.
Bharti Airtel (+3.8%), Tata Motors (+2%), Power Grid (+1.9%), HPCL (+1.7%) and Coal India (+1.6%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.
HDFC (-4.5%), IndusInd Bank (-4.2%), L&T (-3%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (-2.7%) and Indiabulls HF (-2.5%) were the top losers in today’s trade.
Out of 2,045 stocks traded on the NSE, 515 advanced, 1,234 declined and 296 remained unchanged today.
A total of 11 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 136 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
