Equity benchmarks were trading on a flat note after heavy pressure seen in banking, pharma, financial services, auto and FMCG stocks.Benchmark indices were trading in a tight range on Wednesday as the broader markets continue to outperform. ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, SBI, Yes Bank and Sun Pharma witness selling pressure.
the BSE Sensex was trading at 34,295, down 5 points, while the Nifty50 index was trading at 10,544, up 5 points.

Godrej Industries stock slipped 1% after the company reported that its Q3 consolidated net profit fell by 11.8% year-on-year to Rs131cr on weak operational performance.

Punjab National Bank shares were down 7% after the bank said it detected some fraudulent transactions of about $1.77 billion in one of its branches in Mumbai for benefit of a few account holders.

GPT Infraprojects shares rose 3% after the company said it has received an order worth Rs120cr.

Banking stocks fell today as the RBI's revised norms on resolution of non-performing assets are seen increasing their bad loans ratio. The Nifty PSU Bank fell over 2.5%.

The BSE MidCap Index gained 0.77% and the BSE SmallCap Index gained 0.78%.

Volatility index India VIX slipped 6.79% at 16.6675.

Indiabulls HF (+3.6%), Bajaj Fin (+2.9%), Adani Ports (+2.5%), Airtel (+2.4%) and Tech Mahindra (+2.2%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Infratel (-3.4%), Axis Bank (-2.7%), SBI (-2.2%), Power Grid (-2%), Yes Bank (-1.8%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

A total of 27 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while six stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
