Led by a selloff in global equities, Indian markets continued to trend lower with the Nifty ending the session 99 points lower at 10,124 on Thursday.
Broad-based selling was witnessed across the market with the Nifty IT index being the only sectoral index that managed to close the day in the green.
Bank Nifty ended the session 246 points lower at 24,817 amid a correction in the stocks of PSU Banks. SBI ended the day down 2.41% lower at Rs249.55.
On the options front, heavy call writing was witnessed in out-of-the-money strikes with 10200CE and 10250CE adding ~14.15 lakh shares and ~16.30 lakh shares, respectively, while short covering was witnessed in 25000PE, which propelled the index lower.
India Vix closed 0.44% higher at 18.96.
