SGX Nifty is currently 40 points up at 10352 levels. For today, another day of range bound trade can be witnessed with 10250 and 10375 being the boundaries, as intraday volatility rules supreme.

On Tuesday, the Nifty had another weak session after rupee hit fresh low later in the day. The bears are celebrating all prolonged weakness in the currency with added ripple effect on stocks and bonds adding to the weak sentiment.

Global markets: Asian indices opened marginally in the green as the Japanese Nikkei held on to slender gains. The undertone remains fragile with Chinese stocks, bonds, and currency trading down, which is dragging the whole of Asia along as pessimism from after effect of trade tariffs hurt sentiment.

US markets: US stocks ended lower even as technology stocks bounced back after three days of losses. Bond yields edged lower along with the US dollar, while crude edges higher as threat of hurricane see supply disruption. Equities see consolidation as global rout on stocks keeps the sentiment weak.

FII Data: In the yesterday’s trading session, FIIs sold 1242cr stock in the cash market, whereas DIIs bought 1526cr worth of stock. In the derivative market, FIIs bought 80cr of Index futures and sold 1447cr worth of Index options. In the Stock futures segment, FIIs bought 376cr worth of stock futures and sold 15cr stock options.

FII View: In the yesterday’s trading session, FII created marginally bullish positions in the derivatives market, which is deduced by the fact that they reduced 7689 short contracts in Index Futures, while simultaneously creating 7496 long contracts in Index Call options and 8961 short contracts in Index Put options. However, the long-short ratio in Index Futures continues to remain at 0.7 since the start of the series which is a bearish sign.
