Nifty Trades Above 7,400

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,391 up 202 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,408 up 57 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.42% at 10,104, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.53% at 10,400.

Some buying activity is seen in banking, finance, industrial, FMCG and IT sectors, while consumer durable, metal, oil and gas, realty and auto sectors are showing weakness on BSE. Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, NTPC, Indosys, SBI, Hero MotoCorp and RIL are among the gainers, whereas BHEL, M&M, Coal India, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, ONGC, Cipla, Dr Reddy's and Maruti Suzuki are losing sheen on BSE.

The India VIX (Volatility) index is down 5.8% to 19.0450. Out of 1,782 stocks traded on the NSE, 640 declined and 832 advanced today. A total of six stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 20 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Indian Rupee opened lower at 66.67/$,marginally up 1 paise in early trade on Tuesday as against the previous close of 66.68/$. On Monday, Indian rupee persisted with the weakness against the greenback, influenced by the bleak tone in domestic equities and ensuing persistent foreign capital outflows Indian macroeconomic indicators also continued to disappoint the investors.

TTK Prestige slipped 1.8% to Rs. 4,215 on BSE. The company reported a 32.8% increase in standalone net profit at Rs.37.2 crore for the third quarter that ended on December 31, 2015.
