Sensex Tumbles Over 350 Points; Metal, Realty Drag

The market has started the day with huge losses, due to sharp fall in global markets. At 10:46 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,097 down 381 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,315 down 120 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 1.69% at 10,238, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 1.74% at 10,343. All sectors are showing weakness on BSE. Sun Pharma, Infosys, SJVN,Balkrishna Industries, Rajesh Exports and Vakrangee are among the gainers, whereas Tata Steel, RIL, SBI, L&T, Adani Ports, ONGC, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank are losing sheen on BSE.

The India VIX (Volatility) index is up 7.20% to 19.7575. A total of three stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 97 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The breadth too has turned negative - Out of 1,788 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,286 have declined and 205 advanced so far.
