The domestic equity benchmarks are likely to open on a subdued note on Friday amid lack of directional cues from global markets.
A host of markets, including the ones in China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, US and Brazil, among others, would be closed for the New Year's Day. Nifty50 futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange were trading 28 points, or 0.35 per cent, lower at 7,920, indicating a gap-down opening in the domestic market.
Most Asian markets were closed. Manufacturing PMI released in China showed manufacturing activity contracted in the December. The reading stood at 49.7 against 49.6 in November. Any print below 50 suggests contraction. Non-manufacturing PMI improved to 54.4 in December against 63.6 in the previous month.
