Even as major indices continue to slide down after opening in red, taking cues from global markets, metal stocks trend lower along with Gail which is down by more than 3%. Coal India and Vedanta are losing ground on the BSE and pushing the index down, where coal India contributing 54% downfall to the index.
GAIL, TCS , Adani Ports, Coal India, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Infosys, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma and Axis Bank are all down by more than 1%. ONGC and Power Grid are the only two Sensex gainers trading up by more than 1%. Infratel witnessed 38.79% increase in its Open Interest (OI). The stock touched its new 52 week low on Tuesday of Rs 287.25 per share down by Rs 41.45 per share or 12.61%. Infratel is seeing short built position.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,714.95 down 134.98 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8583.40 down 49.35 points. A total of 35 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 11 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.55% at 12929.98, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.56% at12996.23. Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, Power, Telecom indices while Automobile, IT, Bankex, Consumer Goods, Consumer Durables indices are showing weakness on BSE.
Idea, Tata Power, ONGC, Bharti Airtel and Power Grid are among the gainers, whereas Infratel, Grasim, Gail, Coal India, Infosys and HCL Tech are losing sheen on NSE in the first trading hour. The INDIA VIX is up 1.68% at 16.95.
