Nifty Hold 10,500 Mark; Mid-Cap Index Hits A Fresh Record High

Indices continued to trade flat, with the Nifty50 holding the 10,500 mark; weakness seen in shares of IT companies.Equity benchmarks swung between minor gains and losses in the absence of global cues as most Asian peers were shut and also because weakness was seen in shares of information technology companies.

the BSE Sensex was trading at 34,063, up 6 points, while the Nifty50 was ruling at 10,530, merely down 1 point.

Shares of Gayatri Project rose 3.5% after it won a road order valued at Rs583cr from NHAI.

Maruti Suzuki reported an increase in sales for the month of December, 2017 by 10.3%. The automaker sold 130,066 units in December, compared to 119,286 in same period last year.

Shares of Reliance Communications snapped a four-session winning streak and fell 7% on profit booking. The stock is currently trading at Rs35.55, down by Rs0.67 or 1.85% from its previous closing of Rs36.22 on the BSE.

Among BSE sectoral indices, realty index was the star-performer and was up 2.37%, followed by healthcare 0.97%, consumer durables 0.67% and capital goods 0.55%. On the other hand, teck index was down 0.2% and IT 0.19%.

Nifty Realty Index was trading up by 2.06%. Unitech is currently trading at Rs11.26, up by Rs1.62 or 16.8% from its previous closing of Rs9.64 on the BSE.

Allahabad Bank were up almost 5% as the bank raised Rs500cr. In a notification to the exchanges, the bank said that it raised the money through private placement of Additional Tier 1 (AT 1) perpetual bonds.

The BSE Mid-cap and BSE Small-cap indices were up 0.72% and 1.02%, respectively.

Volatility index India VIX rose 6.223%

Indiabulls HF (+2.9%), Sun Pharma (+1.7%), Airtel (+1.3%), Aurobindo (+0.85%) and GAIL (+0.85%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Infratel (-1.4%), TCS (-1.2%), HUL (-1%), Bosch (-0.7%) and UltraTech (-0.61%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,031 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,263 advanced, 424 declined and 344 remained unchanged today.

A total of 101 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while six stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
