Nifty Hovers Around 11,100 Mark; Airtel, Idea Stock Slip

Benchmark indices opened on a flat note, touched a new hike of 11,110 and then declined to a under 11,000 mark.
Domestic benchmark indices opened lower today, snapping a five-session long gaining streak, tracking subdued Asian markets. Losses were, however, capped by gains in shares of fast moving consumer goods companies.

the BSE Sensex was trading at 36,1189, up 49 points, while the broader Nifty50 index was ruling at 11,094, up 11 points.

Shares of Indiabulls Housing Finance down 1% today as the company reported a 55.4% year-on-year rise in its consolidated net profit for the December quarter, after market hours on Tuesday.

RBL Bank stock dropped 3% after its asset quality deteriorated in October-December quarter sequentially.

Shares of Shriram EPC rose 14% after the company received an order worth Rs84cr from the government of Jharkhand to set up drinking water and sanitation facilities. 

The broader markets were also trading on a muted note as the BSE MidCap Index and the BSE SmallCap Index fell 0.50% each. 

Volatility index India VIX gained 3.2% at 16.7450.

GAIL (+4.2%), HDFC (+1.6%), HCL Tech (+1.3%), TCS (+1.2%) and ITC (+1.1%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Airtel (-4.3%), Hindalco (-2%), Tata Motors (-1.8%), ICICI Bank (-1.7%) and Adani Ports (-1.7%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,008 stocks traded on the NSE, 455 advanced, 1,140 declined and 413 remained unchanged today.

A total of 41 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while eight stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
