Benchmark indices extended gains led by private banks, auto, technology and metal stocks whereas PSU banks, FMCG and select pharma stocks were under pressureShare indices extended their gains to hit fresh lifetime highs on Monday in the afternoon trade.
Shares of Maruti Suzuki gained 4%, led the gainers lilst on the Nifty50, on the company's better-than-expected operating profit and margin for Oct-Dec.
the BSE Sensex was trading at 36,374, up 323 points, while the broader Nifty50 index was ruling at 11,152, up 82 points.
Cipla stock is trading marginally down on the NSE. Earlier in the morning, the company had informed that it had received final approval from the US health regulator for tenofovir disoproxil fumarate tablets, used to treat HIV-1 infections in adults.
Omkar Speciality Chemicals stock soared 4.5% after the company said Intellectual Property India, the Government of India Patent Office, has granted yet another patent for its alkali metal iodide products.
Newgen Software Technologies stock listed at Rs256 on the NSE over issue price of Rs245 per share today.
Volatility index India VIX gained 1.41% at 17.7550.
Maruti (+4%), Eicher (+3.8%), UPL (+3.2%), Zee (+3.2%) and Indiabulls HF (+2.7%) were the top gainers on Nifty50
Dr.Reddy’s (-4.4%), GAIL (-2.9%), Lupin (-2.3%), Airtel (-1.9%) and ITC (-1.8%) were the top losers in today’s trade.
Out of 2,026 stocks traded on the NSE, 809 advanced, 861 declined and 356 remained unchanged today.
A total of 51 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 18 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
