Nifty trades near day's low in the afternoon trades as traders prefer to take some money off the table ahead of the extended weekend.
The PSU Banks continue to lead the fall followed by IT and FMCG stocks. On the other hand, the private banks and metal stocks buck the negative trend.
the BSE Sensex was trading at 36,055, down 106 points, while the broader Nifty50 index was ruling at 11,056, down 30 points.
Volatility index India VIX down 3.72% at 17.3675.
Coal India (+2.3%), Vedanta (+1.9%), Indiabulls Housing Fin (+1.8%), L&T (+1.7%) and ICICI Bank (+1.2%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.
SBI (-4.5%), Dr Reddy (-3%), UPL (-1.8%), Yes Bank (-1.7%) and Bajaj Finance (-1.5%) were the top losers in today’s trade.
Out of 2,014 stocks traded on the NSE, 643 advanced, 1040 declined and 331 remained unchanged today.
A total of 45 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 15 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
