Finally, the BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 145 points at 27,145. The BSE Sensex opened at 27,064 touched an intra-day high of 27,243 and low of 27,061. The NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 41 points at 8,328. The NSE Nifty opened at 8,313.05 hitting a high of 8,357 and low of 8,309.
On the global front, Asian markets closed in green. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index and Nikkei 225 climbed 1% respectively. The Shanghai Composite index closed marginally up. European stocks gained on Friday. The FTSE 100 and the CAC 40 were trading marginally higher. DAX gained 0.16%.
The oil and gas, capital goods, FMCG, energy, industrial, pharma and basic materials stocks were among the other major gainers. Only IT index closed down. Even, mid-cap and smallcap stocks participated in the rally.
The Indian stock market opened July series on a strong note. The NSE Nifty opened 25 points up at 8,313, while the BSE Sensex opened 64 points up at 27,064. The NSE Nifty hit its new 2016 high in the early trade.
At 51.7 in June, the seasonally adjusted Nikkei India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI)– a composite single-figure indicator ofmanufacturing performance – pointed to a further improvement in the health of the sector. Rising from 50.7 in May, the headline index was at a three month high.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,165 up 171 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,340 up 52 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.38% at 11,878 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.88% at 11,905. Dr.Reddy's, ITC, L&T, Gail, Tata Steel, PowerGrid, Axis Bank and Bharti Airtel are among the gainers, whereas Coal India, TCS, Maruti Suzuki and HDFC are losing sheen on BSE.
All the sectoral indices are trading in the green. Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, oil&gas, capital goods, industrial, pharma, metal, telecom and banking sectors on BSE. The INDIA VIX is down 3.54% at 15.7125. Out of 1,822 stocks traded on the NSE, 523 declined, 614 advanced and 269 remained unchanged today. A total of 94 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 16 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
