The Indian stock market opened July series on a strong note. The NSE Nifty opened 25 points up at 8,313, while the BSE Sensex opened 64 points up at 27,064. The NSE Nifty hit its new 2016 high in the early trade.
At 51.7 in June, the seasonally adjusted Nikkei India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI)– a composite single-figure indicator ofmanufacturing performance – pointed to a further improvement in the health of the sector. Rising from 50.7 in May, the headline index was at a three month high.
At 11:37 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,203 up 201 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,346 up 59 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.89% at 11,821 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.66% at 11,879.
ITC, Dr.Reddy's, L&T, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, M&M, ONGC, GAIL and PowerGrid are among the gainers, whereas Asian Paints, Coal India, NTPC, TCS and Hero MotoCorp are losing sheen on BSE.
All the sectoral indices are trading in the green. Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, oil&gas, capital goods, industrial, pharma, metal, telecom and banking sectors on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 0.32% at 16.2375. Out of 1,817 stocks traded on the NSE, 453 declined, 1,031 advanced and 333 remained unchanged today.
